Calling all alumni: 6 ways to help MIT transform education

MIT alumni can play an exciting role in bringing the unique approach that defines an MIT education to learners everywhere.

With another commencement ceremony in the books, the MIT alumni community grows a little bit bigger this week. To share in this exciting moment, MIT alumni from all over are descending on Cambridge to reconnect and reminisce. Whether celebrating back on campus or remembering the MIT experience from afar this Tech Reunion weekend, it’s not just their past at MIT that connects alumni to the Institute, but countless opportunities to get involved and to shape the future.

MIT Open Learning is on a mission to reimagine education for the 21st century, and to better serve teachers and learners of all ages. The MIT alumni community has valuable experience and perspective that can help achieve this mission.

Here are 6 ways that alumni can get involved with MIT Open Learning:

1) Become an MIT pK-12 ambassador

Help us make the biggest impact for the youngest learners. pK-12 ambassadors will receive training — online or in-person — on MIT’s hands-on pK-12 STEAM curriculum, pedagogy, and tools to share with local schools and teachers in your community. Explore sample MIT pK-12 resources

2) Share lessons with the aspiring entrepreneurs of MIT Bootcamps

MIT alumni can lead digital talks about what they have learned in the world of start-ups and entrepreneurial innovation with the global entrepreneurs of tomorrow through MIT Bootcamps’ Deep Dive and E-Seminar series. Check out recent and upcoming e-seminars hosted by Bootcamps.

3) Serve as a virtual teaching assistant for online MITx courses

Support MIT faculty and online learners worldwide in MITx courses in subjects from Physics to Economics. Visit the MITx course catalogue

4) Host a conversation on educational innovation with us at a local alumni club

Alumni can engage with us in their local communities through an interactive salon or faculty talk on the latest research on learning science, the future of workforce education, the role of emerging technologies like VR and AI in teaching and learning, and more from Open Learning.

5) Share your learner story with us

Have you used OpenCourseWare, MITx, or any of our other educational resources? Inspire others to keep learning by sharing how our growing library of courses and course content have had an impact in your life. Want to brush up on a subject? Discover MIT courses published on OCW.

6) Give to Open Learning

Gifts to Open Learning support our efforts to develop research-backed and scalable education solutions, and evolve at pace with the ever-changing educational and technological landscapes to empower learners worldwide. Support our work.
